is a common breeding resident in
Haryana. Locally called Karchia Bagla or Kilchia Bagula,
this bird is found in the wetlands. The Little Egret can be differentiated from the similar Cattle Egret by its black bill. Identification: Sexes alike. A pure white bird with black bill, black legs and yellow toes. In breeding plumage, two long plumes droop at nape, and a few lacy ones on the back and rump. Face becomes bluish-green and lores reddish. |
