Red-rumped Swallow

Red-rumped Swallow (Hirundo daurica), also called Striated Swallow, is a locally common breeding resident in Haryana. This bird is found in pairs or small parties, near wetlands, hill forests, rocky open areas up to an altitude of 500 m.

Identification: Sexes alike. Glossy deep blue above, fulvous white below with fine dark brown streaks. A chestnut half-collar on hind neck, deeply forked 'swallow' tail and the chestnut rump are diagnostic.
