Suresh C. Sharma, born in 1956, is from village Kurana
(Panipat district), now settled in Sonipat
(Haryana) is a graduate from Punjab University,
Chandigarh. At present, he is serving as a civilian officer in the Armed Forces, New
Delhi.
Bird watching: Suresh has been birding in Haryana and Delhi since 1976, but seriously since 1980. He has been
a very active member of Kalpavriksh (An environmental action group) and has been actively associated with various NGOs,
including Bombay Natural History Society, Birdwatchers Society of Andhra Pradesh, WWF-India etc.
Books: He has authored the 'Checklist of Birds of Sultanpur Lake Bird Sanctuary' (now
Sultanpur National Park) published by WWF-I in collaboration with Science
& Technology Department, Govt. of India. He has also authored with Sunita Rao, management plan of
Bhindawas Lake Bird Sanctuary.
Articles: Over 200 articles in various magazines and
newspapers.
At Present: He is writing a book on the birds of Haryana. Is the state referee for
Delhi and Haryana on behalf of Birdwatchers Society of Andhra Pradesh and is regularly
sending important birding notes which are being published on monthly basis in the Pitta, the monthly bulletin of the Society.
He has been birding in Haryana, Delhi and surrounding areas on a very
wide scale.
