Haryana with more than 450 species of birds, is a paradise for birders and ornithologists with habitats like wetlands, jheels, hill forests, dry scrub, desert, rivers, irrigation canals and farmland. Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary and National Park and Basai marsh in district Gurgaon, Bhindawas Bird Sanctuary (Jhajjar), Bir Bara Ban sanctuary (Jind), Kalesar forest (Yamunanagar), Berwala Bird Sanctuary and Morni hills in Panchkula district, Saraswati Plantation (Pehowa), the banks of Yamuna river, Western Yamuna Canal and its channels are the main areas where most of these birds can be found. Delhi canal in district Sonipat is another patch teeming with birdlife. The Keoladeo Bird Sanctuary in Bharatpur, Rajasthan is another excellent site for bird watching in the neighborhood. Sirsa and Bhiwani districts are ideal areas to study birds that frequent desert and sandy regions. In addition, almost all of the cultivated land has some species of birds.
